The artist who finds merry in responding to his showbiz name Nyau King, as routinely addressed by his fun base, has with endless effort become a household name in Africa having done a double decade plus three of collaborations with international artists.
His newest audio collaboration with Uganda’s Bebe Cool has led to the birth of a new video called Guru, an addition to his amazing gallery of videos that have gained often coverage on leading television programs including Trace Africa and Channel O.
The 2017-2016 Nyasa Music Award winner in the best live act, video and male artist categories has gained momentum having collaborated with artists from abroad such as award winning UK Rapper Sway and Brick & lace from Jamaica.
Other leading African artists who he has collaborated with include Nigeria’s Naeto C, Ice Prince, 2 Face and Orezi, Kenya’s Wahu, double Hp, Lira, Da les and Ishmael from South Africa.
Others are Zimbabwean born Buffalo Souljah, Gal level (Namibia) Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania), Botswana’s Scar, Vee and stagga not forgetting Petersen, K’Milian, Slap Dee and Hamoba from Zambia.
The Chipapapa hit maker who is synonymous of triumphs in terms of music awards is yet again an award winner in waiting as he has been nominated in this year’s category of best female artist in Southern Africa in this year’s All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
With his hit video titled “Tola,”Tay Grin will contest for the award with the likes of South African rappers Emtee and Nasty C etcetera.
The chewa musician is optimistic of walking away with the grand prize as he draws confidence from previous success having won channel’0 Best Collaboration in 2009 with the track “the type of my guy” which features Buffalo Souljah, Gal level and Disk joker waxy? He also won a Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts (BEFFTA) for Best International African act in 2014 having been voted as the most influential person by Hub magazine UK.
The Nyau King who has also the 2016 BEFFTA star award in the music category, was also the Malawian urban and best video award winner at the (UMP) perennial awards in 2016 at the BAT ground in the commercial city of Blantyre.
The crowd puller further won the Whatsapp TV Africa Music Video Awards, Best Traditional Video with “Chipapapa” which features Nigeria’s very own 2-baba.
To add icing on an already sugared cake, the “Kanda” composer did venture into a tour which saw him performing in Ireland and at Sun City in South Africa just to mention but a few.
