PAC for public inquiry on ‘blood-sucking’ reports

The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) has called for the establishment of the Commission of Inquiry on the blood-sucking vampire reports in some parts of the southern region.

PAC Publicity Secretary, Father Peter Mulomole, said the reports are just rumors and there is need to go into bottom of the issue.

“We don’t know whether they are true or not, what we know is that people are living in fear,” he said

Fr Mulomole has strongly condemned the killings of people suspected of being blood suckers.

“People should go for evidence not suspicion and taking someone’s life on suspicion is strongly condemned,”

Five people have been killed by mobs since the resurfacing of blood-sucking vampire reports in the southern districts of Mulanje, Phalombe and Thyolo.

The violence has led the United Nations (UN) to pull some of its staff out of two affected areas.
