Government starts paying teachers’ leave grants

Government has started paying the 2017/2018 leave grants for teachers in the country.

Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM) Secretary General Charles Kumchenga has confirmed the development to YFM online.

“A lot of teachers from Phalombe have confirmed on that,” said Kumchenga while adding that they are expecting that all the teachers will be paid not later than June 2018.

Kumchenga expressed gratitude at the speed in which Government is paying the grants.

He however disclosed that they are monitoring as to when the other teachers are going to get their pay.

Kumchenga stressed that if some teachers will not get their leave grants as earlier indicated they will sit down and map the way forward.
