DoDMA to distribute food in 20 districts

The Department of Disaster and Management Affairs (DoDMA) has developed a plan with other non-governmental organization in assisting 20 hunger stricken districts with financial and food aid across the country.

This comes as one way of helping needy people following a report by Malawi Vulnerability Assessment Committee (MVAC).

Among others the report indicates that one million and forty-three thousand people across the country are at risk of being food insecure.

Speaking to YFM online, the Publicist for the Department, Chipiliro Khamula said the plan has been developed as one way of making sure that no one dies of hunger.

“Currently we have started implementing the plan in some districts to those people who have been affected by hunger. Zomba is among the districts are expected to receive the food aid,” he said.

This comes as one way of helping those people who stay around Lake Chilwa since who are suffering from hunger due to the lowering of the water levels in the lake.
