Medical worker suspended for murder of person with albinism

A medical worker has been suspended in connection with the gruesome murder of a young man with albinism, MacDonald Masambuka, in Machinga district.

Masambuka, 22, from Nakawa village in Traditional Authority Nkoola, was reported missing on March 9, 2018 and his body was found on Sunday.

Machinga District Hospital officials announced at a press conference on Wednesday that Lumbani Kamanga, a Clinical Officer at Machinga District Hospital, is on suspension from practicing medicine.

The remains of Masambuka, were laid to rest on Monday at Ngokwe in Machinga.

Kamanga is currently in police custody together with a Police Officer at Nselema Police Unit in the district over the same matter.
