Women urged to emulate Winnie Madikizela Mandela’s political life

A prominent female politician has urged women in the country to borrow a leaf from South Africa’s late Winnie Madikizela Mandela’s political life.

Member of Parliament for Dedza East constituency, Juliana Lunguzi made the remark as Malawi joins South Africans in mourning Winnie Madikizela Mandela.

Winnie Mandela, a South African anti-apartheid activist and politician, and the ex-wife of Nelson Mandela died on April 2, 2018 at the age of 81.

Lunguzi said Winnie will be remembered as a woman who proved that women have the ability to bring change to the society.

“Winnie Mandela showed her bravely when she collaborated with South Africans in freeing her husband Nelson Mandela who was imprisoned for 27 years,” she said.

The legislator said women should emulate the hardworking spirit that Winnie had by making firm decisions that Malawi can benefit from.

Lunguzi advised women who wish to venture into politics to believe in themselves.
