Flames schedule affects Super League fixture

The Malawi national football team’s calendar for 2018 Cosafa cup tournament has forced Super League of Malawi (Sulom) to revise its fixture in week 7 of the TNM Super league.

The development has directly affected a match between Mighty Be Forward Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks which has been rescheduled to a later date.

According to the initial Sulom calendar, the defending champions, Mighty Be Forward Wanderers were supposed to travel to Lilongwe to face Kamuzu Barracks on Saturday at Civo stadium.

But the game has been reschedules as some key players for Be Forward Wanderers are in camp for national team duties.

The change follows Sulom’s rules and regulations which stipulates that a team shall only be exempted from playing after contributing four or more players to the national team.

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers has contributed a total of eight players to the Flames squad, namely; Richard Chipuwa, Stanley Sanudi, Precious Sambani, Dennis Chembezi, Peter Cholopi, Rafick Namwela, Felix Zulu and Alfred Manyozo Jnr.

According to a revised fixture Sulom has lined up five games to be played in the week 7 of the league.

On Saturday, Nyasa Big Bullets will face Mzuzu University at Mulanje Park Stadium.

On Sunday, Dwangwa United welcomes the struggling Masters Security at Chitowe Stadium.

Zomba based soldiers, Red Lons will face the intellectuals, Mzuni FC at Mangochi stadium while in Northern Region, Moyale Barracks travels to Karonga stadium to meet Karonga United.

The final match in week 7 will be on Wednesday as the rookies TN Stars have another tough assignment as they travel to meet capital giants, Silver strikers, at Silver Stadium.

The Flames leave for South Africa on Friday for the regional tournament slated for Polokwane from May 27 to June 9.
