Man kills wife in Zomba

Police in Zomba are keeping in custody a 32-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife.

In an interview with YFM online, Public Relation Officer for Zomba Police Station, Patricia Sipiliano said the body of the deceased was found on May 13 2018 by a passerby who reported the case to the police.

“Our investigations led to the arrest of Kondwani Chimenya, a husband to the deceased and he admitted to have killed his wife on May 12 2018 but he has not yet disclosed the motive for the merciless act,” she said.

Sipiliano further disclosed that the suspect murdered his wife by stabbing her with a Panga knife on the head.

“It is allegedly that on the night of May 12 the suspect asked his wife to accompany him to a witchdoctor at Malangwi village and he murdered her upon their arrival,” she said.

Chimenya will appear in Court to answer a murder case which is contrary to Section 209 of the penal code.

He hails from Lomwe village in Traditional Authority Chikowi in Zomba district.
