South netball committee’s match gate fees plan in limbo

Southern Region Netball Committee (SRNC) is yet to finalize plans to introduce gate charges for league matches, a top official has confirmed.

The committee came up with the plan early last year.

SRNC General Secretary, Annie Hanjahanja, said they are yet to discuss the issue with the Southern Region Sports Development Officer to map the way forward.

Hanjahanja said: “So far we are yet to meet the SRDO as you know Blantyre Youth Centre is used by many sports association so RSDO is supposed to consult all the concerned parties before we map the way forward.”

She further said if the initiative could be implemented the league will benefit financially.

“The money collected from the gate will help us to pay the umpires or even boost the prize money for the teams,” she said.

Rainball Paints Company who are the sole sponsors of the league have this year maintained the previous year’s prize money of K6.7 million.

The 2018 edition of the league, is currently under way with five weeks to wind up the first round.

Diamonds are the reigning champions of the league.
