Mutharika’s bodyguard Chisale shoots woman in Blantyre

A woman has been injured after President Peter Mutharika’s bodyguard, Norman Chisale, shot her on the leg in Blantyre on Wednesday evening.

Southern Region Police spokesperson, Ramsey Mushani said Chisale shot the woman as he was defending himself from some people who allegedly attacked him.

“On his way to his home from the office, Chisale met some people who had tempted to attack him but thank God he managed to overpower them,” Mushani explained.

Mushani said the woman is currently receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central hospital.

The three suspects identified as Montfort Moyo, 21, of Chilobwe Blantyre, Ona Malamula, 16, Changata village Traditional Authority Chimaliro Thyolo and 52 year-old Felix Moses of Bekala village Mgabu Chikwawa are currently in police custody.
