Mec commissioners challenged to start planning for future polls

Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) chairperson Justice Dr. Chifundo Kachale has challenged commissioners to start planning for future elections.

He was speaking at the opening of a postmortem meeting of fresh presidential election held in Blantyre on Thursday.

Dr. Kachale told the commissioners not to get excited with the impression from the public that the fresh presidential election was well managed saying it is time for them to eyeing for the future.

He said much as a lot of stakeholders have commended MEC for the good management of the election, the Commissioners must reflection on areas they might need to improve on.

When asked on whether the Commission has incurred any budget deficit, Dr. Kachale said so far, they have managed to fund all activities and they still have some money from budget lines whose activities did not take place.
