Buleya Lule’s murder suspects bail ruling July 31

The High Court in Lilongwe has reserved its ruling on the bail application for thirteen police officers who are accused of murdering Buleya Lule.

Lule, 44, died in police custody in Lilongwe in 2019.

He was a key suspect in the abduction and murder of Goodson Fanizo, a 14-year-old boy with albinism in Dedza in February 2019.

The accused police officers have been on remand for almost two weeks following their arrest on July 10, 2020.

On Tuesday, lawyers for the accused appeared before the Lilongwe High Court judge Ivy Kamanga to file bail application for the 13 police officers.

One of the lawyers Lugano Mwabutwa said they were told that the court will deliver its verdict on the bail application on Friday July 31, 2020.

Mwabutwa could not disclose the grounds for bail since the application was made made in chamber.
