Court denies bail to Norman Chisale

High Court Judge Ivy Kamanga in Lilongwe has denied bail former President Peter Mutharika’s personal aide Norman Chisale.

Chisale was arrested earlier this month for his alleged involvement in the brutal murder of Anti-Corruption Bureau senior official Isa Njauju in 2014.

On Friday, Chisale was not physically available in Court and he was represented by his Lawyer Chancy Gondwe.

In addition, the case was heard in Camera thereby restricting the gallery including media and it was only observed by concerned parties in the case.

In an interview, while confirming about the denial of bail to his client, Gondwe asked for more time before divulging more details on the basis that he is yet to go through the judge`s ruling.

Currently, Chisale is still on remand at Maula Prison in Lilongwe and he has been rearrested whilst still in police custody for using counterfeit certificate.

Certificate has faced multiple arrests ever since the former President Mutharika lost the court-sanctioned June 23 fresh presidential election.
