HRDC upbeat about whistle blowing initiative

By Sarah Mlozoa

Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) says there has been progress on the initiative of whistle blowing of credible information on the maladministration by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) regime.

Speaking to YFM, HRDC chairperson Gift Trapence said they have received a lot of information which includes tax evasion, theft of public resources and corruption.

Trapence said some information has already been directed to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

“We are not witch hunting people but we want public officers to be accountable to Malawians,” Trapence said.

“So HRDC has received a lot of information and that has been processed.”

He has since assured Malawians that shortly HRDC will hold a press briefing to highlight all the issues.

“We have to assure Malawians that whatever we received will go into good hands and some of the information has already been reported to the relevant authorities like the Anti-corruption bureau and Malawi Police Service,” Trapence said.
