A social commentator Humphrey Mvula has asked government to involve key players like the faith community in civic educating Malawians about the Covid-19 vaccine to be rolled out in March this year.
“They must involve key duty barriers for Malawians which are pastors, bishops and reverends these must be in the forefront to civic educate the communities.
“Not living out political party leaders starting from constituencies, districts and going to national level with traditional leaders also getting engaged as they are the ones in close contact with people,” Mvula said.
He further said media practitioners must also be used in disseminating the information of the vaccine now at an early stage before the vaccine comes.
Mvula said there is need for government to give out clear messages which will remove the fear and all rumors surrounding the vaccine.
“It will be important that government should intensify messages for the expected covid-19 vaccination so that Malawians should get what is true about the vaccine,” he said.
“And that the messages must be well designed and planned with all information, so that it removes fear but then encourage Malawians to go out and get vaccinated.”
On Sunday President Lazarus Chakwera communicated that Malawi will roll out AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine in March.
