NFRA suspends top bosses

Chief Executive Officer for the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) Nasinuku Saukira and Director of Finance Peter Salamba have been suspended over the utilisation of K611 million meant for the procurement of maize for strategic grain reserves without authorization.

Two suspension letters dated February 26, 2021 signed by NFRA Board Chairperson Dennis Kalekeni, said the two used the funds for the other operations without authorization from the Ministry of Agriculture or the Board.

“The Board also considered your decision to procure services from a garage which was not prequalified to provide the services.

“The Board having considered the seriousness of the highlighted matters, hereby unanimously suspends you from duties with immediate effect,” reads the letter addressed to Saukira.

According to Kalekeni, while on suspension the two will be on full pay pending the determination of a disciplinary inquiry.
