Police fire teargas on street vendors

Police on Tuesday fired teargas in Henderson Street in a joint operation with the Blantyre City Council (BCC) aimed at chasing and confiscating merchandise from vendors operating in undesignated places.

The teargas was fired when the angry vendors started petting stones at the vehicle which was being used by the BCC and the police officers.

One of the women, whose merchandise was confiscated, Mary Komwa from Chilomoni Township told YFM that she just got a loan which she used to buy the Irish potato which was confiscated.
