Government has revealed that it intends to start recruiting persons with albinism in the country’s security departments especially Malawi Police Service (MPS).

The revelation was made during commemoration of International Albinism Awareness Day at Gymkhana ground in Zomba which was organized by Catholic Commission on Justice and Peace (CCJP).

Presidential Advisor on disabilities, Overstone Kondowe said currently talks are underway with Inspector General  for Police George Kainja.

“In ensuring that no one is left behind, we have been having talks with employers to consider recruiting persons with albinism,” Kondowe said.

However, national coordinator of governance at CCJP George Kausiwa said delaying justice still remains a challenge in as far convicting cases of attacks and killings is concerned as only 40 cases have been handled.

Meanwhile, Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Zomba Rev. Gorge Desmond Tambala has called on for collaborative efforts in promoting rights of person with albinism.
