Police in Nsanje has arrested a 24 year old primary school teacher on Monday for allegedly defiling a 14 year old standard five learner who is currently pregnant following a sexual relationship since May, 2021.

Nsanje Police Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector, Agnes Zalakoma confirmed the arrest of Isaac Guta who proposed a love affair to her learner in May,2021.

Nsanje Police Publicist added that the standard five teacher engaged in serial unprotected sex with the learner till she fell pregnant.

“Some people of goodwill reported the matter to Tengani Police Unit where the victim was further referred to Tengani Health Centre for medical examination and results revealed that the girl was pregnant,” Zalakoma said.

She said this led to the arrest of the teacher and is expected to appear before court soon to answer the charge of defilement.

Guta comes from Nyamula Village, Traditional Authority (TA) Tengani in Nsanje.
