Malawi making strides in promoting women’s rights

The NGO-Gender Coordination Network says Malawi has made strides in promoting women rights in the 57 years of independence.

Speaking to YFM, NGO-GCN chairperson Barbara Banda said the enactment of gender quality law has seen women`s ability in accessing to justice whenever their rights have been infringed.

“We have seen how women are now participating in political space and in private sector which means that there is an increase in access to education,” Banda said.

However, Banda said though this is the case there`s still room for improvement as a country to make sure that women fully participate in developmental issues.
