Caregivers yet to start receiving allowances

Ministry of gender, Community Development and Social Welfare says it is verifying details for caregivers from all the districts across the country before paying them heir honoraria as stated in the 2020/2021 National Budget.

Government a K15, 000 stipends to the caregivers.

Speaking to Yoneco online, chief child development officer in the ministry, Pauline Simwaka, said during the process of arranging the payments they observed that some details were missing and therefore had to be sent back.

“We will make sure that this process is fast tracked so that caregivers should start receiving their allowances in this financial year,” she said.

In an effort to promote childhood development, government indicated that it will start giving an allowance of K15,000 to caregivers in order to motivate them.
