We all have a role to play to improve tourism- Usi

Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Culture has appealed for collaboration from all players if the country is to revamp its tourism industry which is still recovering from the devastating effects of Covid-19.

The line minister Dr Michael Usi made the call at the launch of the National Tourism Month of September.

In a statement made available to YONECO FM online ,among others, industry players  have been requested  to come up with special packages which can be enjoyed by locals.

On the other hand  the general public has been asked to patronize tourism attraction cites and buy items such as curios as part of their contribution to the month.

Usi has also requested the private sector to come up with tailor made services that will help sustain the industry during this period when most hospitality firms have been hardly hit by Covid-19.

On its part the ministry of tourism has nonetheless planned different activities for the month, including the introduction of photo and video challenge competitions cooperatively with industry players, local communities and travellers as well as undertaking regional media familiarization tours to establishments that are working closely with local communities.

The month of tourism is being commemorated under the theme ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’.
