Mulanje police has reported that lightning has killed a 91 year old man, Benson Matope on Tuesday.

According to Mulanje Police spokesperson Gresham Ngwira, Matope was taken to Namasalima Health Centre where he was pronounced dead.

“The incident occurred at around 5pm inside Matope’s house where he was with his wife,” he said.

Matope was from Namasalima village,Traditional Authority Njema in Mulanje.

Police has advised people in the district to take caution as the rain season starts , in order to prevent further incidents.
