Parliament to investigate bill smuggling saga

The Budget and Finance Committee of Parliament says it will conduct an inquiry to establish circumstances that led to the smuggling of a Loan Authorization Bill to the National Assembly without cabinet’s approval.

In August this year, it was revealed that bill number 22 of 2021 to authorize government to borrow about K93 million for construction of security personnel houses bypassed procedures and smuggled to parliament for tabling.

Budget and Finance Committee chairperson Gladys Ganda has told YFM the Committee wants to dig to the bottom of the issue and seal loopholes.
