Man brutally murders parents in Lilongwe

A 30-year-old man, Wallen Undi, is in police custody in Lilongwe for the brutal murder of his father and mother.

Lilongwe Police spokesperson Insp. Hastings Chigalu, said Wallen allegedly murdered his parents for unknown reason at Malimbwe Village (Chitedze area), Traditional Authority Malili in Lilongwe on Sunday, December 19, 2021.

According to Chigalu the bodies of Williams Lester Undi, 72, and his wife Molly, 68, were found in a pool of blood inside their house on Monday.

“It is said that on Sunday afternoon the parents were at home with the suspect, Wallen. The elder sibling Wiza, 32, had left for a walk somewhere,” Chigalu said.

“Upon returning from his journey at around 19:00 hours, Wiza who reported the incident to police, found the doors of their house closed. He just decided to go away this time.”

However, after returning to the house an hour later, Wiza found the house still locked and just decided to go and spend a night at a relatives’ house.

It is when Wiza returned to the house on Monday that he found his parents’ bodies.

According to Chigalu, the suspect who is believed to be of unsound mind, was found and arrested by the police right in the house while hiding in one of the rooms.

Meanwhile, both bodies are now at Kamuzu Central Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
