Lilongwe police reduce criminal cases by 4%

Police in Lilongwe have vowed to remain vigilant in a bid to reduce crime rate and traffic accidents.

Speaking to YFM, Lilongwe Police Station Publicist, Inspector Hastings Chigalu, said in comparison to the previous year, the station has managed to reduce road accidents by 38.16 percent and crime rate by 4.34 percent.

According to Chigalu, a total of 1,531 road accidents have been recorded in the year of 2021 with 115 fatalities, compared to 2020 statistics of 2,476 accidents of which 151 were fatal.

He attributed the reduction to enforcement of rules and regulations.
