FUM calls for relief to floods victims

By Esnart Chingwalu

Farmers Union of Malawi (FUM) has asked government to consider providing relief to farmers whose crops have been washed away due to heavy rainfall that hit most parts of the central and southern regions.

Frighton Njolomole, president of Famers Union of Malawi, said most famers have become hopeless as their crops have been destroyed hence there is a need for government to intervene with a solution to their worry.

“This has been a very unforeseeable year to famers in the country because despite their crops been washed away this time the crops have just sustained hot weather,” said Njolomole.

“We are therefore appealing with government to provide with haste a relief to these hopeless famers who are on the on verge of experience a hunger this season.”
