Zomba Central Hospital cleaners stage protests

By Esnart Chingwalu

Authorities at Zomba Central Hospital say they are working tirelessly to ensure that cleaners from the hospital get their six months’ salaries in time.

This follows a protest by the cleaners who are on a contract ending on January 31, 2022 in order to force authorities to provide their six month’s salary.

Zomba Central Hospital administrator, Fredson Kambeni, said the salary delay has been contributed by the new new Integrated Financial Management System (Ifmis).

“We are working hard by engaging the Ministry of Finance in Lilongwe so that they should finalise their payments,” he said.
