6 schools score 0 pass rate in MSCE exams

A total of 63,949 candidates have passed the 2021 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations representing 51.99% pass rate, officials say.

123,008 candidates sat for the examinations.

Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb) executive director, Prof. Dorothy Nampota, told journalists on Tuesday, the 2021 pass rate is the highest in the past three years. 41.42% pass rate was registered in 2020 and 50.42% in 2019.

Nampota said 14 schools have registered a 100% pass rate while all candidates who sat for the examinations in six schools have failed.

According to Maneb, the top ten best performing districts in order of ranking are; Zomba Urban, Dowa, Phalombe, Mzuzu City, Dedza, Ntchisi, Mulanje, Nkhatabay, Neno and Karonga.

Minister of Education Agnes NyaLonje said the 2021 MSCE examinations were successful and leakage free.
