Parliament sends bottled water samples to MBS over bad smell

Parliament has sent samples of bottled water to Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) for testing amid growing concerns of the quality of water.

According to Mulanje Bale lawmaker Victor Musowa, the two bottles of water which he was served in the House had a fuel smell and taste.

Musowa, who lodged the complaint in the House, said the issue has been longstanding.

“Starting from yesterday, testing the water that we are drinking here it has different tests, the actual bottle of water that I complained about completely fuel.”

“You can smell some elements of Petrol inside it, and I am glad the House has agreed with me that this bottle of water has to be retested  by the MBS and give us the results,” said Musowa.

Making her determination on the concern, Second Deputy Aisha Adams directed that the water be tested by the Bureau.

Musowa added that he would like Malawians to be given a fair deal of what they are buying.

Efforts to hear from the supplier; United Food Products yielded nothing as their phones went unanswered after several attempts.
