University of Malawi (Unima) Council has appointed Professor Samson Sajidu as new Vice Chancellor of the University.

A statement released by the council says the appointment is effective April 1, 2022.

Professor Sajidu becomes the tenth Vice Chancellor of the University of Malawi.

The University Council has since asked Professor Al Matenje, who has been acting and Professor Sajidu to work together in the month of April for smooth transition of duties.

Professor Sajidu replaces Professor John Kalenga Saka who was transfered to Mzuzu University as Vice Chancellor.
