Lilongwe-based family reaches out to SRC kids

A Lilongwe-based family of Mr. and Mrs. Chokani has donated assorted items to children residing at the Social Rehabilitation Center (SRC) in Lilongwe.

According to the couple, the gesture was motivated from the background that children who reside at the center lack a number of basic necessities in their day-to-day life.

The donation includes a six pack of Sobo Squash and bathing and laundry soap.

The couple has since made commitment to pay more visits at the centre after observing that children at the facility are going through different rehabilitation processes including trauma, hence the need to frequently cheer them.

The government center, which is being run in collaboration with a number of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) led by Youth Net and Councelling (YONECO), has 29 children residing at the Center with a composition of 14 girls and 15 boys.

Speaking after receiving the donation, YONECO’s Central Region Programmes Support Manager, Hughes Tawanda Munthali, expressed gratitude for the gesture rendered.

“We are truly very grateful for this timely donation, you know children at this center lack a number of resources and with the items donated, it will indeed go along way in assisting them,” Munthali said.
