Man arrested for trafficking 135 bags of charcoal

Police in Kasungu have arrested a 38-year-old man, Amosi Ngwangwagwa for trafficking forest products without license.

According to Kasungu Police Station Public Relations Officer, Sub Inspector Joseph Kachikho police in the district received a tip that a vehicle registration number NA 9167 Scania was carrying 135 bags of charcoal.

Working on the tip, officers comprising of detectives, invaded the scene but when the driver saw them, he drove the vehicle into some mud and escaped.

Following this, police only arrested Ngwangwangwa, the team leader, who will appear in court soon to answer his charge. ,

The incident took place on April 14, 2022 at around 15:30 hours,

Meanwhile, police in the district have warned the public to avoid possessing and transporting forest products without licenses.

The suspect hails from Nyakhwa Village, Traditional Authority Khombeza in Salima District.
