Chiefs, Police join hands in fighting crime

Traditional Leaders in Dowa have expressed commitment in working hand in hand with Dowa police towards fighting crime in the district.

Group Village Headman Chigawa of Traditional Authority Mkukula made the sentiments on Tuesday April 19 when Dowa Police Station through community policing branch revamped Chigawa community policing panel in his area.

Speaking on behalf of Dowa Police, child protection officer Sub Inspector Yohane Msuzi said the revamping of Chigawa community policing panel was aimed at strengthening security among the communities and equipping them with knowledge and skills in the battle against crime.

However, Chigawa has urged community policing members to collaborate with Dowa police station for the battle against criminality to be won.

Furthermore, Chigawa applauded Dowa Police for the good relationship that has been restored with the community members which he said will help achieve peace in communities.

Some of the issues discussed during the event include community policing concept, primary justice, gender based violence, mob justice, importance of team work, and early and forced marriages.
