Tropical Storm Jasmine no longer threat to Malawi

The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services says people should not worry about effects of Tropical Storm Jasmine as it is no longer a threat to Malawi.

Through the statement that the department has released says the storm which is currently making a landfall over Madagascar is expected to weaken by Wednesday April 27, 2022.

Tropical storm Jasmine which was created on the Indian Ocean a week ago was giving a threat of flash floods and storm in some of the areas in the country.

However the department has been providing the updates of the storm as a way to prevent loss of life just like cyclones Ana and Dumako.

Through the statement that has been issued by the department in which they have indicated that it is “final information on the severe tropical storm” the storm has no further threat to the country.

“Severe Tropical Storm Jasmine currently is making landfall over Madagascar and is expected to weaken by Wednesday April 27, 2022,” reads part of the statement.

“At its current position and further Jasmine, has no threat to Malawi.”

The department says it will continue to monitor the cyclone activities and movement of weather system and it may show severe weather with its impacts will be communicated to the public accordingly.
