Ndirande police have arrested two men in connection with a spate of motorbike robberies in Blantyre and Chikwawa.

Ndirande Police Station Public Relations Officer Widson Nhlane identified the two as George Gonagona Gama, 24 and Patrick Petro, 23.

Nhlane said the two were arrested following a complaint by Ganizani Ofesi that on July 5 2022 unknown criminals attacked and robbed him of his San LG Motorcycle after the robbers sprayed his face with pepper.

The motor cycle is valued at K1.2 million.

Upon receipt of the report, the detectives launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the two suspects.

After further interrogation, the two suspects revealed to have committed similar offences in different areas and led the detectives to Bereu, Dyeratu and Kakoma trading centres in Chikwawa district where 8 more motorcycles were recovered.

Some of the motorcycles have already been positively identified by the owners.

The duo is expected to appear in court soon to answer robbery charges.
