Fedoma calls for intervention in plight of students with disabilities

By Esnart Chingwalu

Federation of Disability Organizations in Malawi (Fedoma) has appealed to the Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb) to address all the challenges that students with disabilities face when sitting in national examinations.

The plea comes as Maneb is scheduled to start administering the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examination from August 2, 2022 across the country.

Fedoma executive director Symon Munde told YFM Online that there is need to address the challenges earlier so that students with disabilities should have liberty to write the examination freely just like other students.

“It’s important for Maneb to do an assessment to student with different disabilities so that it provides the right accommodation to them regarding kind of disability that the students have,” Munde said.
