Mangochi businessman commits suicide

A Mangochi businessman, Farook Jussab Maluk, 57 has shot himself with his licensed shotgun after being diagnosed with a disease that affected his ability to walk.

Mangochi Police Station spokesperson Amina Daudi said Maluk shot himself on January 7 at Ndata residential area in Traditional Authority (TA) Mponda in Mangochi.

The deceased who owned Tools and Components Glass shop within Mangochi Township was staying with his nephew, Maxwell Daudi after divorcing his wife.

According to Daudi, Maluk went to Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre for medical treatment where doctors recommended his operation to amputate both legs.

She added that upon returning from the hospital the deceased told his nephew that he was tired of taking drugs.

“Two days later, he locked himself in his room where he shot himself in the chest with his shotgun,” Daudi said.

Maluk came from Mgona Village in TA Tengani in Nsanje.
