Chizuma fails to take plea in leaked audio case

Hearing in a leaked audio case involving Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha failed to commence on Friday as the accused was reportedly prosecuting another case.
Appearing before Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Khoswe Chimwaza in Lilongwe, state prosecutor Levison Mangani expressed shock that Chizuma was not in court when according to him, a notice was served on her.
But defense lawyer, Powell Nkhutabasa said the court was informed that Chizuma was in Blantyre prosecuting a case involving Karim Batatawala.
Nkhutabasa also asked the state to serve them with disclosures of the case.
Magistrate Chimwaza adjourned the matter to February 8, 2023, where the accused is expected to take plea.
