Misa Malawi mourns broadcaster Kapusa

Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter has described the death of prominent television broadcaster Geoffrey Kapusa as a devastating blow to the media industry.

Kapusa died at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. MISA Malawi Chairperson, Golden Matonga, told YFM online that Kapusa was one of the first television celebrities in the country.

Matonga said Kapusa’s death will be felt by many Malawians who will remember the days when families would come together to watch Mr. Splash do his magic on the public broadcaster.

“He was perhaps the first television celebrity in Malawi. A whole generation of Malawians will feel a big loss today; a huge part of their history has left. Whole families will today remember the moments they shared in their living room to watch Mr Splash, as Kapusa was fondly known, dazzle them,” he said.

Burial will take place on April 25, 2024, in Mkanda Village, Malosa, Zomba.
