Malawi Environmental Protection Authority (MEPA) has urged science journalists to do more in championing environmental conservation initiatives.
Tawonga Mbale, MEPA Acting Director General said the media is paramount in furnishing the general public with crucial information about the environment.
Mbale however commended media practitioners in the country for undertaking a crucial role on environmental conservation.
She made the remarks on Thursday during the official opening of the Annual General Meeting for the Association of Environmental Journalists (AEJ) in Lilongwe.
Board Chairperson for AEJ, Emmanuel Muwamba described journalists as drivers for change on environmental issues.
Muwamba conceded that there is unnoticed gap in reporting environmental related issues despite the country registering tremendous strides in the past years.
