MCP to respond to court’s injunction within 14 days

The opposition Malawi Congress Party- MCP- says it will react in the next 14 days to the court injunction by some senior officials who were both dismissed and suspended over the week end.

MCP’s Publicist, Ezekiel Ching’oma told YFM online the party’s legal team is working on the injunction as it prepares it within the given 14 days.

“I can confirm here that we have indeed served by the injunction but the injunction is clear, it only prohibits us as a party from summoning the five to a disciplinary hearing,” he said.

However, one of the fired National Executive Committee (NEC) members, Gustav Kaliwo confirmed to YFM online that through the injunction, he will continue discharging his duties as MCP’s Secretary General.

“If the party plans to go against the injunction, then the law will take its course,” he said while adding, “through the injunction, l am still a serving Secretary General for the party.”

Malawi Congress Party will hold its convention between 4th and 8th of April this year, to map the way forward towards the 2019 General Elections.
