Five foreign nationals arrested for illegal stay

The immigration department in the central region has arrested five foreign nationals for illegal staying and operating businesses in the country.

Central region immigration department Public Relations Officer, Ealack Banda revealed to YFM that the five nationals from Tanzania and Nigeria were ambushed in their designated working places on January 30, 2019.

“We have arrested the five nationals for staying without proper documents the Tanzania was arrested at 6 miles close to Bunda, Lilongwe where he was working as a mechanical, the four Nigerians were arrested in Malangalanga where they were operating their services,” said Banda.

He said every foreigner must have legal document in order to stay in the country.

Meanwhile the department has commended the amicable working relationship that exists between them and the public in notifying about illegal nationals that are staying the country.
