The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) says it is ready for the second phase of dialogue meetings with President Peter Mutharika and the other parties in a bid to find a lasting solution to the current political impasse.
This is according to a statement that PAC issued on Thursday to yesterday, to update the public on their progress on the matter.
The statement said that the second phase of the meeting seeks to cement the issues that were discussed during their first meeting which was held on 2 august.
Although the statement did not disclose the details of the initial meeting, PAC said president Mutharika told the mediation team to engage the leadership of the HRDC, UTM and MCP to share his views which were raised during their meeting.
On the other hand, the leadership of HRDC and UTM however advised PAC mediation team to the Malawi Electoral Commission- MEC chairperson, Justice Dr. Jane Ansah to hear her side of the story on the current political situation.
The statement which has been signed by the seven PAC mediation team, has stated that the body had already sought another audience with Mutharika for re- engagement and was also committed to meet with the leaders of MCP, UTM and HRDC.
However, the statement has not indicated whether the team will have another interface with Jane Ansah, whom HRDC is demanding for her resignation for tampering with the May 21 tripartite election results.
