Machinga reduces crime rate

By Aubrey Kathumba

Machinga Police Station and its lower formations managed to reduce criminal cases such as breaking, robberies, assault and other criminal cases.

A report which YFM online has accessed released by the research and planning officer for Machinga Police Station inspector Damiano Paluma said the station registered a 6% crime reduction.

The report shows that from January to September last year the station registered 1000 criminal cases as compared to 945 cases registered this year the same period representing 6% decrease.

“Awareness campaigns which are conducted in the rural areas made the community to understand the offences therefore reporting them to police this made decrease in sexual offences,” Paluma explains.

Therefore police in the district is assuring the community of maximum security and to Machinga a no go zone for criminals to achieve the vision of creating a safe and secure Malawi.
