Chawinga sisters tie on leading scorers list

The race for the Golden Boot in Chinese Women’s Super League takes an interesting stage with the Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa, settling for seven goals as of Friday.

However, Zambia’s Barbra Banda has stolen the limelight to tally her goals at 17 following a hat-trick on Friday against Temwa’s Wuhan FC.

Goals could not stop coming on Friday in the Chinese Women’s Super League championship round match when Shanghai Shengli beat Temwa Chawinga’s Wuhan 4-3.

It was a thrilling enounter which flowed from end to end according to online sports Goal.com. Temwa Chawinga opened the scoresheet in the 9th minute before Zambia’s Barbra Banda equalised three minutes later with a fine finish.

A few monents later, Shen Mengyu put Shanghai ahead before Banda claimed a hat-trick to seal the scoreline at 4-3. In another match on the same day, Tabitha Chawinga’s Jiangsu Suning narrowly beat Beijing BG Development 1-0.

Shanghai made sure that they secure their first win in the four-team tournament to boost their chances after a 2-2 draw with Beijing Phoenix in the last outing, thanks to Banda’s brace. On their part, Temwa’s Wuhan FC edged her sister’s Tabitha Chawinga’s Jiangsu Suning 1-0 to launch their title dream on a high.
