Registration for tobacco transporters and transporter’s associations for this year’s tobacco season is expected to commence on February 1, 2021.

According to a statement from the Tobacco Commission (TC) the exercise is expected to take a period of over three weeks from 1 February to 26 February 2021.

The TC has since called on interested applicants to collect applications forms at TC offices in Lilongwe, Kasungu, Limbe and Mzuzu in accordance with the law.

As a matter of general reminder the commission has also pointed out that all application must be in line with Terms of Reference.

“All application must be in line with the Terms of Reference (ToR),” reads part of the statement.

Transportation of tobacco without registering with the Tobacco Commission is against the law as stipulated in Section 62 of the Tobacco Industry Act hence the importance of the exercise.

The Commission is also reminding all the public to follow the COVID-19 preventive measures to ensure that everyone is safe from the pandemic during the exercise.
