Malawians cautioned against Covid-19 laxity

Health authorities have cautioned people in the country to celebrate responsibly during the Easter holiday and keep the guard against the spread of coronavirus.

The caution comes at a time as Malawi continues registering a drop in number of confirmed positive Covid-19 cases.

But speaking during the daily Covid-19 update, Secretary for Health Dr Charles Mwansambo said people should not relax in complying with the Coronavirus preventive measures especially this time when the country`s football national team has qualified for AFCON.

“Let me also sound a word of caution as the Malawi national team has beaten Uganda, let’s all make sure that we observe all the Covid-19 preventive measures by celebrating responsibly and properly.

“We all want to watch the game next year so let’s not succumb to Covis-19, and we can only do that by celebrating properly,” said Dr Mwansambo.

Dr Mwansambo has also said that Covid-19 vaccination centers will be operating during the Easter Holidays.

“I need to reassure Malawians that we will increase a number of centers and some of our centers will be open.

And we are looking at the busy areas like places where people go shopping, we will set up some sites there so that we can vaccinate more people there,” said Dr Mwansambo.
