The Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare has urged young people in the country to exercise caution in their usage of Information Communication Technology (ICT) tools in a bid to combat online exploitation.

The Director of Child Affairs in the Ministry McKnight Kalanda made the call amid concerns that many young people are misusing the internet, which is risking them to violence and exploitation.

Kalanda acknowledged the great role internet plays to young people in as far as education is concerned.

He however said some children are using the internet inappropriately which is leading to moral decay.

Kalanda said children are fond of posting and watching explicit things on the internet.

’’Young people should appreciate that the internet is very useful in their education, and if used wisely it will benefit them a lot,’’ he said.
