PAC tells Government to swallow its pride on electoral reforms

Public Affairs Committee (PAC), a quasi-religious body, has asked Government to swallow its pride and table in Parliament the much anticipated electoral reforms bill or face the consequence.

The resolution has been made at its meeting on Wednesday with the aim of lobbying Government to table the bill.

PAC’s Publicity Secretary, Father Peter Mlomole said it is very unfortunate that Government is failing to honour the commitment it made before stakeholders during the 5 plus 1  All-Inclusive Conference that PAC conducted in June last year.

“There is a roadmap that the 5 plus 1 conference in June agreed upon, even government knows what we agreed,” Father Mlomole told YFM online.

“We told this government to table this bill but we are equally surprised to see that they are showing no interest.”

When asked on what the body will do if Government continue to downplay the call, the outspoken Mlomole said stakeholders will decide on the way forward.

“Government delegates were there during the conference. Nonetheless if they continue to be proud of that stakeholder will reconvene and see the way forward,” he said.
